Kimber Wilkerson, Faculty Director, is a professor with the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education. She has spent the past 17 years helping prepare future teachers as a faculty member at UW–Madison. As a professor with the School of Education, she has coordinated special education certification programs and chaired both the Special Education Area and Teacher Education Committees. Wilkerson also has designed and taught courses in special education teacher certification programs at both the undergraduate and master’s degree levels. Wilkerson is currently the principal investigator of three federally funded grants to prepare master’s-level special educators to work with students with disabilities. She is also co-PI, with Melinda Leko, Andrea Ruppar, and Bonnie Doren on a federally funded leadership grant to prepare doctoral-level teacher education researchers. Wilkerson is currently president of the Wisconsin Association of Colleges of Teacher Education (WACTE) and a member of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) Leadership Group on School Staffing Challenges. She serves as the School of Education’s Certification Officer and is the primary liaison between the School of Education and DPI.
